VLP To Invade Duggan's in February

Time to get back out to playing live...and against their better judgement, Duggan's Pub (11th & K) has booked us for a gig on Saturday, February 23rd. We're going to start a little earlier this time (downbeat at 8pm) to better accomodate a part of our audience. We're already rehearsing new tunes (including an expanded role for the dynamic Melissa Lewis), so this one should be a real corker! Put this on your dance card and plan to stay late!

Duggan's 2: Electric Boogaloo
We're Heading Back To The Bar

The gig at Duggan's last September was sweet. The bar made some money, the crowd had a great time and the band, well, we just love playing no matter what. So we're getting the whole thing going again. But this time, we're bringing reinforcements! The ridiculously talented Melissa Lewis has promised to hit the stage with us for a few songs. It's been a frickin' blast in rehearsal...you absolutely don't want to miss this! So call the posse and plan to stay late.

VLP@theDelRay VLP Members Go The Full Monty
Lincoln Playhouse Show Opens March 2nd

Five of the members of the Learned Project will be appearing in the LCP production of the Full Monty. Notably, Vince Learned (our fearless leader) is the musical director and band leader; while Matthew Landis stars as Jerry Lukowski. Also in 'the pit' are Stanley Raetz, Randall Snyder and Clay Stryker.

The musical is based on the British movie of the same name, but gets moved to Buffalo, NY. The plight of these desperate, out-of-work, well-meaning guys causes them to turn to desperate measures to make ends meet.

Hit the Full Monty page on the LCP website for showtimes and ticket information. And watch for the Ground Zero article on March 2nd.

Thursday, October 26, 2006 :: The Leid Gig

Whoa nellie. Seriously. That Lied gig was a blast. What an amazing performance space. From the stage, we estimate that about 600 were in attendance...and pretty much seemed to have a blast. At least the standing ovation at the end sure seemed heartfelt.

We tried to pull our best, most symbolic 45-60 minutes worth of songs for the gig. So we chose 2 solos each, 2 group numbers and Side 2 of Abbey Road. Vince opened the show with an piano-driven version of "What Would You Say" that set the tone for the night. It was upbeat and familiar, but we don't do it like the record. It sounds like us. Likewise the next two songs: "Fly Away" and "Synchronicity II." We do a reggae version of the former and retool the later. Our fourth song is more of a straight version of Crosby, Stills and Nash's classic "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes." Because, well, we'd get booed if we messed with that one. We played all four songs in rapid succession and didn't stop until the final refrain of "Doo doo doo do." Which, of course, is a great rock'n'roll ending. And sure enough...the crowd responded with a ravenous ovation.

We saw lots and lots of people we knew. Which was fantastic. It always helps to see friendly faces in the audience. We don't take your support for granted. Everytime we see someone we know in the crowd, there's a sense that we must be doing something pretty well, or you wouldn't come back. Bless you folks for being so good to us.

Krista Niles took served as photo documenteur for the night. As soon as we get some photos, we'll stick them on the site.
